It is sometimes said that cinema as a medium amounts to son et lumière – a sound-and-light show. Grasshopper takes this idea to heart in its vision of abandoned and ruined suburban spaces that are completely empty of people, but magically brought alive by the wildly changing colour emissions of a light machine.
