《高加索之恋》是格鲁吉亚小说家兼诗人尼古拉·申格拉亚的第二部电影作品。这部电影改编自格鲁吉亚作家亚历山大·卡兹别吉（Alexander Kazbegi）的小说《埃利索》(Eliso)。这个故事基于一个古老的浪漫传说，发生在特尔斯克地区的高加索部落中。 　　Love in Caucasus was the second cinematic effort of Georgian novelist-poet Nikolai Shengalaya. The film was based on Eliso (its origina l release title), a novel by fellow-writer Georgian A. Karbek. The story, founded on an ancient romantic legend, is set amongst the Caucasian tribes of the Tersk region. Few of the cast members were professionals, requiring Shangalaya to virtually spoon-feed his direction. As a result, the acting in the film is not quite as compelling as the spontaneous scenes of Caucasian customs and celebrations.
