Fosca is vice police chief of Arezzo and works in a police station composed almost exclusively of women who are experts in investigations, analysis, and mystery solving. She is an attentive and prepared woman, loves horseback riding, and lives in the farmhouse inherited from her father in the Arezzo countryside. Her only weakness is Cosimo, her best friend with whom Fosca is secretly in love, and who, by announcing her imminent departure for America, will push her to make a definitive decision about her personal life.
