Chang Hye-ryun, an Oriental painting artist living in Los Angeles, meets Marianne, a psychoanalyst. Marianne is enthralled with Hye-ryun's paintings and her mysterious behavior and decides to learn painting from her. Hye-ryun goes to a party with Marianne and meets a man named Charles. On their way back from the party, Hye-ryun and Marianne are kidnapped and raped by a group of men. Marianne treats Hye-ryun who is suffering from a severe case of shock. Hye-ryun is able to function normally with the help of Marianne. Marianne learns that Hye-ryun had been sexually molested by her step father when she was young. Charles, meanwhile, confesses his feelings to Hye-ryun. When Hye-ryun tries to return to Korea, Marianne begins to understand her true feelings.
